Ordinary Furies
A series of increasingly vicious events at the resort forces Alex to revive her abandoned skills as a self-defense instructor. In this first book of the series, Alex is just beginning to explore her changing sexuality. Like many women, she must face her denials and repressions before coming to terms—in the remainder of the series—with her attraction to women. For some women, these are issues not easy to face, and this series hopes to explore both the difficulties and rewards of lesbian “late-bloomers,” with humor and acceptance.
I’m an overeducated writer who also happens to be the product of a Borscht Belt childhood in the big Jewish hotels of the Catskills. In the seventies, I dropped out of Vassar College and drove a VW van to California with my first girlfriend. I arrived in Sonoma County, a hotbed for young feminists, and stayed there for many years. Later, I studied creative writing with Jane Smiley in Iowa. I currently live in St. Paul, Minnesota, with my understanding partner and my intrepid dog, Sherman. My first mystery, featuring Alexis Pope, is Ordinary Furies, published in April, 2007 (Spinsters Ink). In addition to fiction writing, I’m a personal trainer and a freelance business writer. I also practice martial arts, garden and have just taken up golf in order to spend some time with my golf-addicted partner. In other words, I have a phobia for boredom. Due to my Borscht Belt background, I have a distinct interest in humor as an antidote to stressing out on the complications of life. This includes an arsenal of terrible jokes supplied by family members. For more information and/or lurid details about me and my works, visit my website: lindamorganstein.com |
