Welcome Home
Glenda Poulter's Biography “How long have you been writing?” is a question often asked of authors. Glenda Poulter’s answer is “As long as I can remember.” Glenda was three or four years old when her mother, desperate for some peace and quiet, handed Glenda a piece of paper and some crayons and asked her to draw a picture. Instead, Glenda drew a story. Glenda has been writing ever since. Her short stories and poetry were published in her high school magazine, where she dreamed of one day being a professional writer. But that dream was put on hold when she married a career Air Force man shortly out of high school. She had two children, Kaycee and Scott, during the twenty-two years she was married. Glenda’s writing during that time was limited to prolific journal entries and short stories written to entertain the children. In 2005, after her divorce from her husband, Glenda came bursting out of the closet to no surprise of most of the people who knew her. She met Lisa in March, 2006, and they have been together ever since. Early in their relationship, Lisa asked Glenda what her dreams were. “I always wanted to be a writer” was Glenda’s answer. “Write me a story” became Lisa’s mantra. Glenda wrote Welcome Home (after several false starts) to shut Lisa up. It didn’t work. Lisa still urges Glenda to write more and more. Glenda and Lisa live in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina with their three cats and two dogs. Glenda’s day job as a Customer Service Representative helps keep the lights on and food on the table so she can keep on writing. Some of her hobbies include photography, painting, bird watching, and playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook.
